Pacing to Win

In my many years of CrossFitting, I have learned many lessons. Examples: Double unders require shorts that tie. Wall balls are the most pure form of evil.

But the most important lesson I have learned is how to pace workouts. I used to go as fast possible for as long as possible. Then, I’d have to stop. And stare at the bar. Trying to not throw up. So, the next time, I slowed down a little. And I wasn’t tired at the end. The next time I pushed a little too hard. Then, not hard enough. Finally, I started to recognize that point where I can just go. Like keeping your car just under the red line. It’s something I picked up when I was a cross-country runner, and it is extremely helpful in CrossFit. Learn to pace, and you will win.

This video is my favorite example of this idea. It’s about 10 minutes long, but it is incredible.
