The Open is finally upon us, and we saw some AWESOME performances from our athletes!!! Scaled and Rx alike attacked 15.1 and 15.1a with everything they had. I heard a bunch of people say that they PRed their clean and jerk… after 9 minutes of T2B, deadlifts, and snatches! That is insane! What will we see next week?!?!
Also, this week will be a testing week. After weeks and weeks of strength training, we will take this week to see how far we have progressed. When I am aiming for a new max, I keep two things in mind. 1. I want to make sure my body gets warm enough to perform well. 2. I do not want to take so many reps that I’m too tired to hit max weights.
In general, the more experienced athlete will be able to take larger jumps. When I’m squatting, I know I can go 135, 225, 275, 315 on my way to 350 or more. But a newer athlete may not be so sure. When in doubt, make smaller jumps. Every athlete is a little different, so you may warm up differently than your CFBFF. Just do what you think is best for you, and/or ask your trainer for guidance. Happy PR week!!!
