Brooke and Sarah K will be starting a clean and jerk and squat program soon. If you are interested, Brooke can help you personalize your program. Lifting can be done during class, and will help you improve your form and increase your weights!
This week’s athlete spotlight is…
Sara Fischer! Sara is a great athlete who has made amazing progress at CrossFit Kirkwood. In fact, she has made so much progress, that she will be our newest trainer! Sara will be co-teaching the 9 am classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays with Brooke starting on May 28th. Just in time for summer!
Here are some fun facts from Sara!
1. How long have you been at CrossFit Kirkwood?
I started at CrossFit Kirkwood in July 2014, right after we moved here. I had always been a Y member and had done various fitness classes and was ready to try something new—I’ve been hooked ever since!
2. What are 3 things you want people to know about you?(I tried to think of things that people really may not know about me!)A) I love to read and to talk about books! I read 52 books in 2017 and so far have read 21 in 2018…usually a mix of genres but generally I’ll read anything that lends itself to thought-provoking discussion. I’m currently reading The Great Alone and The New Jim Crow, and am listening to The Yes Brain.B) A hobby I love but haven’t done in years is sewing. I used to sew all sorts of stuff (clothes, purses and other bags, costumes, one stuffed animal) and wish I made more time for it now.C) I “retired” from teaching almost 6 years ago to become a stay at home mom and at that time decided to stop drinking alcohol. At first it was a reluctant decision that I didn’t think would stick (and I thought I’d never have fun again) but looking back I see that it’s allowed me to live my life in full color, with more joy. There’s a lot more I could say about this so ask me about it some time!
